Verdict: The first track “Breathing In A New Mentality” is one of the best opening tracks to a CD I've heard in a while. It starts with some riffing and snare hits, pauses, then kicks you in the dick, a great statement of intent for the new album. "Lost in the Sound of Separation" is a great refinement of the sound laid down in "Define The Great Line" and really hits hard in the right places. "Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear" is another stand out song and really sets Underoath's song writing aside from the rest of the pack, building up with soft melodies and culminating in a crushing ass ult of power chords and Spencer's emotional singing. If you have heard the hype, believe it. "Lost In The Sound Of Separation" is a real stand out CD, even for a band with a back catalog as solid as Underoath and shows real progression and maturity of thier sound.
